Our approach to sustainability

Our people

Our people are enablers of our strategy and are a key source of competitive advantage. Our success depends on our ability to attract, develop and retain individuals with the skills, capabilities, resilience and mindset required to deliver on our ambitious growth path.

As Cell C enters its next phase of growth, we will strengthen our human capital productivity by driving AI adoption, investing in leadership capability and young talent, future skills and employee wellbeing while embedding a culture that empowers people to perform at their best. We invest in the development of internal talent pipelines, employee wellbeing, and The Unstoppable Way culture, while positioning Cell C as a leading employer to attract, develop and retain the skills needed to deliver our 2030 strategic ambitions.

Cell C has made significant progress in executing its people strategy during its turnaround and preparations for its listing. Taken together, Cell C's lean structure, maturing talent governance, strengthened development pipelines, high employee engagement and wellbeing systems provide a credible base for building the future-fit capability required for platform growth, automation and sustained value creation. Our ambition is to build a workplace where talented individuals can grow, contribute meaningfully and help shape the future of Cell C.

Our people

Over the past several years, Cell C has undergone significant transformation. In 2020 and 2021, Cell C restructured its operations, significantly reducing its workforce and closing 128 retail stores. Cell C emerged with a lean operating model, employing fewer than 900 people in broader roles, compared with approximately 2 500 employees before the restructuring.

This year, we integrated 26 CEC employees into our organisation, focusing on harmonising job descriptions and employment terms and conditions. This integration was completed in May 2026. In addition, we converted five stores to franchises, resulting in the transfer of 23 employees to our franchisees.
